* Hot Summer Nights: Held at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk's Player Park Stage, this summer-long festival features live entertainment every night of the week from June through August, including free concerts five nights a week. Mondays are all about the little ones with the Kids Festival, featuring rides, games and fun activities for children; Wednesdays are free fireworks shows launched from the downtown oceanfront; and the rest of the week offers live music on the main stage. The shows last from 7 to 9 p.m. with top local and regional bands in action.

* Music on Main: Downtown North Myrtle Beach comes alive on Thursday nights, bringing a wide variety of live music to the Horseshoe stage. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and dance the night away. Among the top acts schedule to appear are Midnight Alley (June 4), The Wannabees (June 11), the Carolina Soul Band (June 18), the Ultimate Rock Machine (June 28), the Fat Jack Band (July 2), Southern Blue (July 9), the Castaways (July 16), The Deluge (July 23), Hip Pocket (July 30), Too Much Sylvia (Aug. 6), the Entertainers (Aug. 13), The Necessary Band (Aug. 20), The Fantastic Shakers (Aug. 27), Tastes Like Chicken (Sept. 3), Jim Quick & Coastline (Sept. 10), Tru Sol (Sept. 17), Envision (Sept. 24) and Marsha Morgan (Oct. 1).

* The new Sounds of Summer Concet Series is set for one Friday pnight each month at the new North Myrtle Beach Sports & Rec complex in North Myrtle Beach. The shows run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are free and open to the public. This year's lineup includes Sound Express & The Legacy (June 19), Gary Lowder & Smokin' Hot (July 17), Painted Man (Aug. 21), and Nantucket (Sept. 18). Grab some snacks and cold drinks from the concession stand and dance the night away.
