Christmas shows shining now in Myrtle Beach
It’s November and that means one thing; it's time for Myrtle Beach Christmas Shows!
The local shows have switched gears from their variety offerings and now their Christmas shows are front and center.
The Carolina Opry, the Alabama Theatre, the Dixie Stampede and Legends In Concert currently have their holiday shows on stage through December.
The Carolina Opry and Alabama Theatre present variety shows throughout the year featuring music and comedy from country to Broadway. Come November, the same performers put on their best Christmas regalia and turn that variety to Christmas and holiday cheer.
Legends In Concert feature performers who look and sound like many of the stars of today and yesteryear. They, too, put a Christmas slant to their shows for November and December.
The Dixie Stampede transforms its usual Civil War theme to include a Christmas show that is one of a kind, including live animals as part of a moving Nativity Scene.
These shows have become staples of the Grand Strand holiday scene over the years. Locals look forward each year to starting their holiday season with one or all of these shows. Bus tours make the theaters a regular part of their itineraries every year.
In addition to these shows, the local Hibernian Society is bringing one of the most famous Irish American singers to The Palace for one show on Dec. 14.
Andy Cooney, called “Irish America’s Favorite Son” by the New York Times, will headline the Christmas show. Joining Cooney will be comedian George Casey, Irish singer Annette Griffin, the Darrah Carr Dance troupe and a top group of musicians.
Come see for youself what Christmas in Myrtle Beach is really all about.
